Here is the full set of rules for the draft from Major League Soccer. This is a condensed version:
The draft will take place on Wednesday, November 23, beginning at 2 pm ET.
As in past years, the expansion draft will last 10 rounds, meaning the Impact will select 10 players.
Current MLS clubs will be allowed to protect 11 players from their 2011 roster, though there are several categories of players who have special status. Generation adidas players and Homegrown Players on the team’s Off-budget Roster are automatically protected, without counting as one of the team’s 11 protected spots.
Designated Players do not have to be protected unless the player’s contract includes a no-trade clause.
So, answering many people's question: Jeferson does not have a no-trade clause, which means he doesn't need to be protected. Also, I learned (thanks to Mike from Down the Byline) that Bunbury is expected to graduate Generation Adidas before the draft, which means Sporting KC will have to protect him if they want to definitely keep him. Last thing I should mention: Sapong is under a Generation Adidas contract, which means he does not need to be protected.
With that, here is my list of players I think Sporting KC should protect:
1) Besler
2) Zusi
3) Bravo
4) Kamara
5) Bunbury
6) Espinoza
7) Myers
8) Sinovic
9) Collin
10) Kronberg
11) Nielsen

I don't want to lose either of them, but it seems weird to protect 2 goalkeepers
