Bobby Convey becomes newest addition to SKC

Grace, over at SKC Reports, called it on Twitter yesterday. Earlier this morning, Sporting Kansas City announced that Bobby Convey is the club's newest addition. For the ex-US international, Sporting gave an international roster spot to the 'Quakes for the 2012 MLS season.

Convey, 28, is a very versatile player, who can play outside back, winger, and surprisingly central-mid (where he played during his stint with Reading in England). For me, this raises my suspicions about Omar Bravo's SKC future, especially because Sporting traded back for Seth Sinovic - probably taking back the LB starting spot (which could have been Convey's).

Here's some important information on Convey and the trade from the official press release:

  1. There's something about this guy that bugs me. I really hope he gets a chance to prove his skills as a sub and doesn't become part of the XI too quickly.

  2. I agree. He seems like he could cause a really chill team to become antsy or spiteful of each other. But, his upside is huge! I heard we got him for a great price, so hopefully he will slowly work his way into the regular rotation and come back into his past form!
