Sporting KC represented in January USMNT camp

Jurgen Klinsmann and his staff have released the roster for the USMNT January camp. Here is the complete list of call-ups:

GOALKEEPERS: Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
DEFENDERS: Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), A.J. DeLaGarza (LA Galaxy), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), George John (FC Dallas), Zach Loyd (FC Dallas), Michael Parkhurst (FC Nordsjaelland), Heath Pearce (Chivas USA)
MIDFIELDERS: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Ricardo Clark (Eintracht Frankfurt), Benny Feilhaber (New England Revolution), Jeff Larentowicz (Colorado Rapids), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
FORWARDS: Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City), C.J. Sapong (Sporting Kansas City), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

Overall, the reaction to this roster has been overwhelmingly positive. It's quite easy to see that the future of the USMNT is basically those in this camp - and quite frankly, I'm thrilled with how the next generation is shaping up. The defensive players are solid, the midfielders are creative and skillful, and the forwards are athletic and potent. It will be interesting to see how all of these youngsters work together and how much chemistry they develop in this short amount of time.
The players on the roster of most significance for Sporting KC fans are obviously Teal Bunbury, Graham Zusi, and C.J. Sapong. I'm really looking forward to seeing what sort of impact they have on the team, as they've proven themselves on SKC, but not yet on the national level. It will also be interesting to see how they fit in to Klinsmann's style of play.
I'm happy for all three Sporting KC players called up, but I think that Sapong and Zusi - although both have no experience on the national level - deserve their roster inclusion more than Bunbury.
Thoughts on this? How do you feel about Myers and Besler being left out of the call-up? Do you think Bunbury, Zusi, and Sapong deserved their selection?

  1. Graham Zusi is superb! He's fast, flawless and precise. I wonder how many soccer camps in new york would a girl like me has to undergo to master those moves.
