NBC networks in, FSC out

Today the public learned that MLS has signed a three-year television contract with NBC and Versus (which will be re-branding to 'NBS Sports') that will begin at the start of the 2012 MLS season. Now, because of this, Fox Soccer Channel's TV contract with MLS will be terminated at the end of 2011. This comes as a surprise to me, but a good surprise at that. Not only will the NBC networks be broadcasting several more MLS matches than FSC, but this deal will also make MLS approximately 5.75 million dollars more than FSC does. The biggest deal-maker of all is that NBC channels are broadcasted in approximately 76 million US homes, FSC in about 39 million homes - which will make for a big increase of MLS matches viewed across the country.
